People, Places and Things
A Retrospective
P. Crawford
PhotoSC is proud to present an exhibition of Pat Crawford’s photographic work. This exhibition of 58 black-and-white photographs offers a partial view of Crawford’s extensive body of work, now half a century after their creation; images deeply rooted in the documentary traditions of the photographic canon.
Crawford’s work offers a poignant reflection of the human condition, one that quietly observes and bears witness to American life through the lens of documentary photography. With a quick snap of his Leica, Crawford embraced his landscape, documenting people, places, and things in a language uniquely his own.
Captured between the years of 1969 and 1983, a period when Crawford had also begun working as a commercial photographer and was raising a young family. Moving through the streets, the towns and the events of his life, Crawford experienced the world through the camera’s viewfinder, seeing what often goes unnoticed, framing the world and playing with the edges. These images show us a quiet, personal vision of America during a transformative era.
