This exhibition offers a partial view of Crawford’s extensive body of work, which is deeply rooted in the traditions of the photographic canon. The 58 black-and-white photographs in this exhibition capture the years between 1969 and 1983, a period when Crawford had also begun working as a commercial photographer and was raising a young family. Moving through the streets, the towns and the events of his life, Crawford experienced the world through the camera’s viewfinder, seeing what often goes unnoticed, framing the world and playing with the edges. These images show us a quiet, personal vision, one steeped in the American photographic canon, captured during a transformative era.
